Avalanche
r1d1 down ?0.75m. broke above the skier in the usual, surprising, PWL fashion. In thin soft facets above very firm old basal facets overlying what appeared to be stout old wind slab. Word of warning; this is the second slide from group members in the last week. Updated: The first skier triggered the slab and exited up higher lookers right. One of us then skied bed surface and two of us skied next to skier 1s tracks. This happened yesterday 11/17. Crown was less than a meter which was almost the entirety of the snowpack. We had small wind slabs cracking prior to this. The slope that slid had no wind effect. Failed on a thin layer of facets overlying a firm (pencil to knife hard) layer of old snow on the ground.
