Quick report
We took advantage of the brief break in the weather and went to Tincan. We set up the beacon checker sign in the morning before touring up to look at some recent avalanches and try to find the snow line. We made it up to 2400' before we had to turn around, and never did find that snow. But we did get a good look into Common Bowl at the end of the day and it was looking like it snowed quite a bit up there.
Widespread glide activity. We didn't see much for surface avalanches from the storm, but visibility was limited.Weather

On and off light rain during the day. Winds were strong out of the northeast once we got above the trees on the ridge. Skies were mostly cloudy with some light poking through to the south as the next round of stormy weather moved in from the north.
Snowpack
We dug to the ground at the crown of one of the avalanches we noticed on the north side of CFR last week. We found wet snow down to the ground. There was a layer of wet rounding facets about 6" thick at the ground, which was capped by the October crust. Those avalanches on CFR appear to have failed on top of that crust layer, likely when liquid water percolated through the snowpack and pooled on that layer when the rain first arrived.

We watched a large glide avalanche release on the south-facing terrain off Eddie's Ridge. We also saw several fresh glide avalanches in Girdwood this morning. We didn't notice any signs of recent storm/wind/loose avalanche activity, but visibility was limited and it's likely that avalanches that occurred during the storm have been at least partially blown in by the intense winds.
