Quick report

It was pooring rain, when we arrived at the parking lot, but stopped as soon as we started riding. The snow was very wet up to ~8000ft. Water rills were visible on the surface. Above ~8000ft the snow was less wet and more supportable, but already starting to slightly refreeze on the surface when we skied down. We dug a pit in the lower part of the Throne on a E facing aspect. We didn't get a result there on our ECT (ECTX) and also didn't find a concerning weak layer near the bottom. We dug a second pit higher up on a N facing slope where the snow wasn't as wet anymore. Our ECT showed an ECTN14@81, fracturing on a layer of graupel (3mm). The top layer did show potential characteristics of a slab. Overall, the snow conditions felt more like spring, rather than December.
