Went to the eastern end of the PC Ridgeline ie; South Monitor, Scott's Bluff trying to avoid the old rime crust, seems like closer you get to the canyon mouths the worst the crust. Walking up the S facing in USA Bowl you could note the crust but it was thin and carvable with about 4 to 5 inches of light density sitting on top of it. The N facing in both SM and Scott's was free of any rime crust, just light density sitting on a firm but carvable base. Not sure if the Wasatch Back escaped the rime event due to its location and being in a rain/rime shadow or of it was there and has broken down with the cold clear nights. The surface of the snow continues to weaken and facet creating a loose surface sitting on firmer bed surface underneath. The main activity was wind slabs on the exposed ridge lines sitting on faceted snow on a slippery bed surface. We triggered a few of the wind slabs in both SM and Scott's, the biggest one being about a foot deep and running with some good speed. In open bowl terrain such as SM it wasn't much of a threat and could be mitigated with ski cuts, in technical exposed terrain these wind slabs could ruin your day by taking you over a cliff or jacking you into the trees. The wind slabs we noted were not soft they were stiff and packed some punch. The faceting surface will most likely be problematic with a new load on top.

Snowpack
Powder on the N with a spongy base in S Monitor, and Scott's Bluff, exposed rime crust on the ridge line, some wind slabs and damage right off the ridge on the N facing, wind loaded.
