Point 6

We skinned up Point 6  to clear the anemometer (again) and look for recent avalanches.

We found two D2 wind slab avalanches on the SE face of Jenny Bowl. The largest of the two ran over 1000 feet. I was also able to kick off a small D1 wind slab around the corner on a NE aspect.

There was about a foot and a half of settled storm snow sitting on a crust. The top few inches of snow on southerly aspects was moist, but still skied well

We saw two D2 natural wind slab avalanches that likely happened during the storm. I was able to intentionally trigger a very small size 1 wind slab nearby. We also saw a few very small wind slab avalanches and dry loose avalanches from today. We observed cracking in both new and old wind slabs.

The settled storm snow is about 50 cm (1.5') deep, and becomes increasingly hard with depth. This sits on a thin crust in most places. Persistent weak layers are now 80 - 110 cm (2.5-3.5') deep.

Surface snow was becoming moist on SE, S, and SW aspects.
