Quick report
We skied to the base of SEWS (48.51099, -120.65635) and then the eastern side of blue lake (48.50760, -120.66790). The snow itself was stable and skied really well. Sun exposed snow was heavier but still seemed stable. We didn’t see any signs of instability on the north facing aspects though there was some shedding on more sun exposed slopes. We saw the cornice and slab noted in a previous observation on the birthday tour. We also didn’t really notice any signs of wind loading (though we topped out at 7300 ft so there could have been something different higher up). The more interesting thing was the surface hoar we saw at around 5850 ft. It has the potential to form a nasty weak layer depending on what ends up on top of it.
Avalanche
Saw a slide on the east facing aspect of blue lake that looked like it slid in the last couple days. We saw several skiers booting up the couloir above the slide. Seems like it was probably naturally triggered from warming.
