Hyndman Creek

Due to my timing of leaving the truck at 16:00, the warmer temperatures down low and solar input from larger pockets of blue skies had softened crusts on solars up to 8000' to moist surfaces. While the top 5 inches of the snow was moist and easy to push around, I did not note any amount of wet loose activity. There was soft, relatively drier snow on colder (N-NE-E) aspects, however due to warmer temperatures and solar input on slopes at elevations I traveled (6600-8500'), this snow was denser in many spots. With well-defined melt-freeze crusts developing on solars, expect this surface to have the potential to become the new crust+facet combo weak layer of the future if the WRV receives another decent loading event. At the low to mid elevations I traveled, surfaces on northerlies were mostly composed of DFs and some near-surface FCs in more sheltered spots. 

While no active wind transport was occurring due to the light winds and moist snow surfaces, the effects of the wind event during our storm last week was evident with plenty of past wind loading and scouring visible all around the Pioneers. Old cornices lingered in much of the alpine terrain visible from my vantage.
