Quick report

Cracking

Collapsing
isolated

Skied an E face with noted widespread instabilities. There was heavy snow throughout the day. Skied terrain under 30 degrees and enjoyed the day. There was occasional collapsing and cracking which appeared to be failing on a weak faceted layer below a crust 1’+ down. The top foot of snow seemed to be forming a storm slab that was not cohesive to the crust. There was plenty of wind for transporting snow and signs of recent wind activity near the top was plentiful. The seemingly hazardous snowpack led us to stay in very mellow and safe terrain and enjoy a good day in the mountains.
