Leavitt Lake zone

Strong enough N wind today to continue to move surface facets in unprotected zones, mostly on or around soft ridges in Near Tree Line or Above Tree Line.  Most hard ridges on all aspects have been stripped to rock.  Soft (fist hard) surface facets remain in wind protected slopes on all aspects, that haven't been tracked (10-20cm boot penetration). Slopes that have previous tracks from snow sliding tools or snowmobiles, the previous tracks are frozen solid with 0 boot penetration.

South aspects especially with more of a W aspect, are mostly rock from warmer afternoon temps even at 10K'.  SE aspect slopes are holding more snow, staying colder with the exception of ridge tops where East winds have stripped snow in exposed areas.

No secret here, but the Sierra needs snow.  There is 'goodish'  snow in spots if you know where to look, yes! Its just getting shallower and more bleak as we approach over a month of no precip.  For you folks still interested in winter and snow sliding, look in Near Tree Line (above 9k'), on North aspects that isn't exposed or too steep..  

Very variable surface conditions continue to exist.  Surface facets 10-20 cm in wind protected zones. Unprotected spots were glazy with a sun crust from yesterdays warm up and refroze from todays NW wind.  No pit digging was done today (no need for it, as no surfaces signs of instability).
