Quick report

We observed a substantial slab sitting over the 12/13 layer. The slab was F in the top 10-20 cm and gradually hardened to 1 finger hardness for the majority of its depth. As an organization, we are discussing transitioning to Propagation Saw tests to better monitor instability within the 12/13 layer, especially in areas where the slab is more consolidated and deeper within the snowpack.

Snowpack

We dug on an northeast facing slope at 8350' and found the 12/13 layer down 81 cm below a crust layer. Small columns pointed towards fracture initiation with 23 hits and sudden collapse results. Extended column tests didn't show propagation on the targeted layer of 12/13, so we switched to the big guns with PST29/100 END and CPST 22/100 END results.
