Reporting the very large avalanche that occurred in the SW bowl of Galena Peak on W-NW aspects. I'm sizing this a D4. Visibility was poor, but there was also least one D2.5 in the NW bowl. Both slides had 8-10" on the debris and bed surface. I've got more photos that I'll send later.
Snowpack
Early season facets remain my primary stability concern. They can produce very large avalanches, in combination with the very dense slab of December snow resting above.
