Quick report
Decent refreeze overnight. Consistent snow from ~3150’. The wind was ripping today, especially at higher elevations. My guess would be sustained winds of 35+ kt when we summited around 13:00. Felt sporty. We observed small amounts of snow being transported by the wind, including little pieces of cornice being flung uphill. However there appeared to be little dry snow available for transport, and we encountered no wind slabs. Weather was thin high clouds in the morning, with increasing cloud cover throughout the day, and light precip starting around 15:30. The summit stay socked in clouds most of the day, and light was generally flat. Along with the cloud-socked summited and high winds, this made for disorienting skiing at higher elevations. Slopes below 6500’ had softened substantially on our descent despite the high winds, and once out of the clouds and the worst of the winds, the skiing conditions were quite enjoyable.
Avalanche
There were a few small D1 loose wet avalanches on steep solar aspects, probably from Saturday 3/29.
