Quick dawn lap up Silver Fir. Great to be on fresh snow -- skinning felt velvety and fast. 10cm of new snow near the bottom, perhaps 15cm at the top. Most building-roofs displaying snow moving with slab-like character. Moderate snow showers with warm flakes before dawn became fine icy particles and graupel at the summit by 8am. Precipitation at 9am at the base of Central still appears to be fine-grained and frozen Hand pits in undisturbed snow near the summit showed easy fracture-character at the base of (or in) the new snow. Ski-character on the descent showed that the snow was already beginning to turn upside-down.
