Temps stayed quite brisk in the valley and lakes basin, and we did not experience as much of an inversion as anticipated. At noon on the divide between Kendall lakes and KAZ wind was still quite brisk, and temps were in the mid twenties. HS above 5k was between 120-150cm. Upper 40cm of snowpack was noted to be right side up, in multiple 10-15cm thick intra-storm layers, all resistant to hand sheer, sitting on top of the 12/24 crust. By 1430 temps on southerly aspects rose to near freezing, and cliffs were shedding but were not entraining surface snow. Below 6k, the top 1cm of snowpack was wetting on the same solar aspects, but no loose wet activity was seen. Polars and shaded terrain stayed dry. The upper, northerly aspects of the KAZ were quite wind affected.. We did not see any evidence of old windslab or signifiant loose dry activity in the KAZ.
