Snowpack exhibited poor structure at bottom facet sandwich, but seemed reluctant to slide as cohesive layer. Collapsing on skin track was loud and common. One collapse included shooting cracks over 50 ft on a steeper slope that could have slid. While skiing we didn’t observe shooting cracks or sluffing, but we stuck to very low angle terrain based on observations. Snowpack heavy and upside down. Ice crust lower down made for interesting skiing out. No observed avalanched. Widespread loud collapsing at elevations above the 1700’. Cracking in specific area with shooting cracks up to 50 ft. Collapsing often occurred for 2nd or 3rd person on skin track. Cracking not present for all collapses.

Light to no wind. Broken clouds. Decent visibility. No signs of wind loading.
Snowpack
Snow pit dug on northwest aspect at approximately 2000 ft. 170cm deep snowpack at pit location. CT failed on isolation trying to get through crust layer 90 cm down. ECTN15 @ 35cm on storm layer (1 finger). ECTP27 @ 90 cm on facet/ice sandwich. Extra jumping above caused widespread collapsing on bottom layer with no movement.
