Skied the NW and N gullies on Mchugh via the bear valley TH. Temps were inverted, warmer at ridgelines. General wind direction was Northerly, with some terrain driven Westerlies on the Western side of Mchugh. Found reasonable uphill travel with skis on the ridge. Throughout the day, experienced cracking and numerous collapses on pockets of sastrugi formed in the most recent storm snow. In a larger pocket, able to incite a rolling collapse. Certainly a touchy interface. Attempted to hunt for DH in a NW facing gully at 3800ft. Dug before probing, only to find an HS of 195cms with old wind slabs that would not yield to a shovel. At the edge of the gully, HS was 55cms with DH and the midpack faceted layer both present. On NW terrain, found an ice lens from the rain event all the way up to 2900ft.
