Quick report
20 degree, overcast, light showers, very light wind. Around a foot of snow from last weekends storm remains largely untouched by wind in the areas we traveled between Glen Alps to the S Couloir. Small sluffs from the cliffs above filled much of the lower S, with spindrifts ranging from small to medium sized actively dropping both in the lower and upper S throughout the day due to the new snowfall tipping the balance on steep terrain above. Soft and crumbly but non-propagating wind slab in the upper couple hundred feet made for some extreme sluffs before the slope angle decreased while the snow simultaneously became less slabby. Overcast conditions made the day dizzying, particularly with the size of sluffs moving around us. Hidden rocks beneath the new snow also very much still exist and are hard, if not impossible, to identify when combined with flat light. At the end of the day, we agreed had we known the size of sluffs we’d be peeling we may not have skied this hazardous line.
