Quick report
Didn't observe much since I didn't venture far (say, to Mt. Wash.). Lower elevation objectives like Potato Hill, Cone, and Hayrick are all essentially 'out' at the moment. You're going to bury a tip under a log or take a stick in the eye, so be careful. Some loose junk coming off of the steeper slopes of east Hayrick. But, essentially no instabilities in the snowpack. The preceding two days dumped a tremendous amount of rain on the snowpack. See attached photos. A shallow pit (only 60cm on the ground) showed 20cm of recent snow over a melt-freeze crust, over old snow to the ground. It's all wet...

Bluebird and calm.
Snowpack
Saturated surface snow. Didn't bother with any detailed tests, etc. Wet grains and MF clusters ruled the day. Conditions are overall very poor in the Santiam Pass area.
