Observation: Pinecone Ridge

Toured from Guardsmans Pass to Pinecone Ridge and skied S/SW facing terrain. Although thin at the top the slopes quickly filled in and were a lot of fun to ski. They may have a bit of a zipper crust tomorrow unless the light to moderate winds kept them cool. Finished with some runs on Scotts Backdoor. No signs of instability observed other than sloughing in the steeper sections of the run. On the way back to the car, skied some steeper south facing terrain and noted a thin wind skin forming on the surface. Snow was damp underfoot and could have a melt/freeze crust tomorrow. Overall, the new snow felt stable and was a lot of fun to ski. Sidenote: the Park City Ski Patrol were doing a lot of avalanche control in the Scotts Bowl area. Consider giving that area a wide berth if control continues. Saw one good sized slide they were able to pry loose in the Bowl.
