Quick report
It was another beautiful day in the mountains where we encountered a variety of snow surface conditions. Wind sheltered northerly and easterly slopes still held excellent snow. Impressive surface hoar near the creek bottoms. Snow depth at 9200’ on a north facing slope was 1.5 meters. We wanted to dig down and see if there was any weak snow persisting on these high, cold slopes but unfortunately ran out of time. We didn’t see note any red flags throughout the day, and even on the sun cooked steep slopes it seemed like the roller ball activity was from previous days. We noted some very large remnants of cornices that had dropped off the steep northeast side of Willard (see picture) but with no resulting avalanche activity.
