Observed a very large avalanche on a steep unsupported E face of Ashman Peak. about 300 x 300 m with crowns up to >100cm. Observation date was on Feb 18th. Likely failed a during wind event on the 17th. In the photo, one can see a series of smaller slabs that stepped down to a larger persistent layer propagating significantly. Ran to top of runout. Melt crust / facet combination was found at the bottom of snow pack on wind scoured N aspects of similar elevation within a few KM of this avalanche, hinting at the failure surface.
