Quick report
Started touring from fishhook look @1020 clear skies no wind, temp 13F according to car. Ascended East ridge of Hatch, observing minimal signs of wind loading, with some wind sculpting on the ridgeline being the only sign. Snowpack consisted of unconsolidated powder atop facets atop an icy crust. Descended sunny side Hatch dropping in at 4500', triggered two D1 slides on the way down. Then ascended 4068, still seeing minimal signs of wind loading, but with a bit more wind sculpting on the ridge than on Hatch. Noticed D1 slab avalanche just below the ridgeline on convex roll on N aspect at around 3600'. Dropped off the summit of 4068. Then headed to a 40-degree run off Bald Mountain Ridge at head of valley. On the skinner up, observed snow was more settled and consolidated, and the facets atop the icy crust were much larger and angular than on Hatch. The icy crust was significantly more pronounced too, with my freshly sharpened ski edges fighting for grip. There was also more signs of wind loading, with some light cornicing atop our run. Arrived at the top of the run and decided to back off that and we went back up 4068 and skied another run back to the road.
Avalanche
Triggered D1 sluff 15' wide ran for 40' and another D1 sluff or slab (not sure) 25' wide ran for ~175'. Sunnyside Hatch, slope angle around 35 degrees, elevation around 3900'. Also, saw a D1 slab avalanche debris on 4068 from above on a convex roll. Elevation 3,600', maybe 80' wide, most of it running ~80' but with one tongue of the debris running what looked like 300-400' down. Debris looked fresh and seemed skier triggered, as there was one set of tracks right above the crown.
