Quick report
New snow overnight came in low density and right-side up. Control work by Targhee was limited to shallow slabs (D1) and one small pocket visible off the north aspect of Peaked without much propagation. The north lines ridden off Peaked did not produce any avalanches or much dry loose (closed to the public, good day to be a patroller and well earned). Generally stable.
Conditions were touchier on Glory, specifically on north facing terrain (See Noah's ob). There was more wind loading and stiffer slab character off the upper elevation ridgelines. At both locations I found similar snow totals and snowpack structure (numerous density changes and the widespread crust buried 4/12). This highlights the variability within one mountain range and the importance of slope-scale assessment.
Recent snow remained cold all day in upper elevations due to cold temps, consistent NW wind, and varied cloud cover (broken to scattered) along with periods of snow showers. Expect the recent snow to destabilize tomorrow with temps 10-15 degrees warmer, full sun, and lighter wind decreasing sublimation (wind chill values 20 degrees warmer tmrw).
