Quick report
There were no signs of collapsing or cracking while climbing the gully. We did find sections of hollow wind board about 1" thick above 2-4" of facets on top of the sun crust. There was a pocket of thicker, 2-3" wind board, that had more of a hollow drum sound, but none of the other typical red flags. So we continued up to Shastarama. This section ended being the trigger point. See avalanche summary for description. Considering how widespread this avalanche was. The underlying snowpack seems quite stable and does noes not indicate any deeper weak layers are present.
