Quick report
Climbed the boulder field of Mt Herman as part of an Aiare 2 class. Noticed signs of wind transported snow including wind scouring and pockets of deeper wind traveled snow. Hand shear tests on wind pocketed slopes during the ascent showed snow was unconsolidated in places but did shear in a few tests. Group conducted pit observations and tests around 5200' on the south aspects of Enchanted Forest. Generally observed around 6 inches of wind transported and new snow atop the saturated and consolidated base layers. We continued back to Bagley Lakes via Enchanted Forest. Upon exiting the forest we were noticing our skiing was creating large rollerballs and debris on steeper slopes with heavy and wet snow.
Avalanche
By the end of the day we were triggering rollerballs and small wet loose avalanches on steep fanning slopes exiting the enchanted forest.
