Quick report

Surface conditions consisted of dry, settled powder on shaded northerlies, thin sun crusts on southerlies, and old hard wind slab on exposed features. Flat terrain was not being affected by the sun or air temperature, and little evidence was present of loose wet activity.

Snowpack

I found poor snowpack structure on a NE slope at 8000', but did not receive propagation during an ECT. The 1/3 crust was visible ~35cm's down with large (2mm) facets immediately beneath it. I also dug on a NW at 7900' and found a slightly better structure. Here the 1/3 was harder to see with the naked eye and did not propagate a fracture in either an ECT or PST. In both locations the temperature gradient in the top 30cm's of snowpack was >5C, with evidence of near-surface faceting on steep sheltered northlies.
