Quick report
Saturday morning a cornice fell from upper Kimtah peak off the steep north face from around 8400ft and triggered a small D1 slide down to 7800ft on Kimtah glacier. Snow was powder. Many sluffs coming off upper cliffs. Saturday afternoon many loose wet D1 slides came down steep north faces at 6000ft on north side of Mesahchie. Over the day snow changed from powder above 5200ft to slush up to 7000ft, then refroze saturday night above 5000ft. Shallow windslabs at 7800ft on north aspects close to ridgeline, but no slabs farther below on north aspects. South aspects above 8000ft scoured with only isolated pockets of wind slab. Heavy southerly wind above treeline above 8000ft Saturday afternoon. FYI - Highway 20 west side is currently plowed and bikeable from the Ross Dam Gate at MP 134 to MP 148, about 13.5 miles in.
Avalanche
Cornice fall-triggered D1 avalanche on north aspect of Kimtah around 8000ft Saturday morning. Loose wet D1 slides on north aspect 6000ft north side of Mesahchie Saturday afternoon.
