Mild temperatures in the morning with good visibility and light winds mostly out of the east. We saw a large improvement in the new snow depth and quality above 3800’. Near the top of Roaring Ridge, the effect from the recent east wind event was more apparent. Large cornices were overlying west facing terrain, surfaces appeared textured, and a noticeable wind slab could be noted in isolated areas. When skiing, we expected to see more signs of instability on these textured surfaces but they were unreactive in both treed and open terrain. However, we did trigger a small 4” wind slab over a convexity in the trees that ran for ~50’. Ski quality was excellent from 5k to 3800’, Around 1 PM, light snow began falling as visibility reduced. Snow transitioned to large rimed flakes around 3 pm back at the car.
