Quick report

The warm weather is causing dramatic changes. The massive rim cornice is starting to sag into the crater opening a huge crack that follows the edge of the rim. On the positive side, it makes the true extent of the cornice obvious. There are many big glide cracks on deeply loaded slopes. Some are an annual event. Others are in place where I haven't seen them before. One that forms on a convex slope just north of the route at 7500' is now 75' long and 6" wide. Last year it was over 100' long, 2' wide, and at least 10' deep.
