Observation: Coldwater Bowl

Although the deeper snow at upper elevations is looking much better than the shallow snow down lower, persistent weak layers are developing in the upper snowpack due to the very cold temperatures. In the Tony Grove Area, I found widespread very weak sugary or faceted snow buried just under the fresh powder from the end of 2018.
