Quick report
Our group of 4 started climbing from Horse Camp around 5am and encountered strong and gusty NE headwinds with cold temps on the moonlit skin up to Helen Lake, and clouds were observed near the top of Thumb Rock. Once the sun broke over Sargents Ridge, however, the temps steadily increased and the winds abated dramatically. On top of Redbanks we were greeted with cloudless skies and only a few light gusts. We opted out of a final summit in favor of better skiing conditions, since a 2pm descent was already later than anticipated. We found perfect corn conditions for the majority of the descent through Avalanche Gulch almost all the way back to Horse Camp. We triggered rollerballs in the steep terrain below Redbanks but observed no signs of slope instability after the good freeze the previous night. Overall, decent climbing weather followed by great skiing conditions.
