Skied North and East facing aspects on Nyack and Penrose and the skiing was variable at best and terrible at worst. Breakable crust, bullet proof windboard, freezing rain crust, the works! Cold and very gusty up high, saw active wind transport off the ridge of Penrose into the Rescue basin and were able to trigger some small wind slabs 1-3” thick. Of note, we saw an extremely large cornice on the lookers right couloir off the summit of Nyack.
