Observation: Rodeo Ridge

Wind was blowing from S/SW/W. During my tour I found both soft and hard wind slabs. I did a fair amount of poking and prodding on the way up as well as jumping on some low consequence hard wind slabs (7800ft) and cornices (ridgeline). I was able to get some cracks to shoot 2-3 ft, but only after some serious jumping on these surfaces, nothing popped or showed signs of much energy. I dug a small pit through this weeks storm snow at 7800 ft. on a N/NE facing slope and was unable to identify any sensitivity.

The wind is definitely moving snow around and shallow wind slabs (1-3" deep) were forming that showed some signs of sensitivity, so something for consideration as the winds continue to move snow and new snow falls.

The most sensitive snow I found was fresh storm snow on a smooth wind buffed layer just north of cobble creek on a SE facing ridge. Turning on this slope cause point released new snow slides that ran 20-50 ft.
