Our snowpack tests yielded little results tonight. We performed an Extended Column Test with a score of ECTN29@75cm down indicating the potential for a Storm Slab Avalanche, and we did a Propagation Saw Test below the Persistent weak layer found 150cm down and it scored PST115/120Arr. The column did not propagate but did arrest on the snow below. While the Persistent weak layer is stubborn currently, the potential to trigger in a thin spot or even remotely trigger it could mean a very large and dangerous avalanche. It is still wise to remain ever mindful while traveling through potential avalanche terrain while the Persistent weak layer remains in the snowpack. Some Storm Slab cracking in protected areas. Also many slopes, Northerly to Easterly facing, with Moderate to Heavy wind loading.

Snowpack
The snowpack in our test area measured 320cm or about 10.5ft. Our test pit was 175cm deep with a weaker storm slab layer 75cm down and a Persistent weak layer around 150cm down. This Persistent layer is a thin ice layer with rounded facets directly beneath it. The snowpack density ranged from Fist(soft) at the top, 1 finger(fairly dense) in the middle to 4 finger at the bottom(setting up).
