Consolidating snowpack (sun/zipper crust) below treeline and more powdery, but lower depths on southern facing and more shaded aspects. The recent wind storm had started to form some small cornices and satsurugi on northern/eastern facing aspects. Most of the snow seemed to have been blown down into the bowl below Davis (lookout site), Davis Central, and SW Davis. We encountered much deeper powder in the bowl (6"~1'+ snowshoe penetration). Our party made it up to Central Davis, but we decided to not continue on to North Davis: the snow was too lean for cross-country travel over large boulder fields, but too much to do safe rock scrambling. There were some nice smooth lines down from the cols between Davis Central/Davis (lookout site), but it wasn't immediately apparent what kind of terrain traps lurked underneath the early season snow coverage.
