Quick report
No signs of instability today. No signs of recent avalanches. High clouds and high winds (30 mph at 6000' and 50-60 mph on the rim at 8250'). Snow below 4000' was melting overnight. Above the tree line to 5800' it had a thin crust that that softened by mid-day. Snowshoes or skis were needed. From 6000-8250', the snow was very firm and wind scoured. Even the steep east aspect of Monitor Ridge from 7000-7650' was wind scoured and so firm that it took a bit of effort to kick in shallow steps. Up on Monitor Ridge from 7600-8250', ridges were deep knobby rime ice and valleys very firm wind scoured snow. High SW winds were blowing a lot of snow and ice around, but it was so windy that it didn't appear to be accumulating anywhere. It seemed like a very low risk day.
