Observation: Uintas

I got out early this morning and found about 7 inches of new snow comprised of 5” of high density topped off with 2” of low density. The snow was quite variant. Sheltered terrain had nice soft but supportive powder while some exposed terrain had a hard wind slab under the light finishing powder. The steeps held the new snow with no visible natural sluffs, a rare site. I spent my morning in sub 30 degree terrain on the south half of the compass and found good turning condition. Digging in some sheltered north facing terrain, I found a solid snow pack in the upper meter of snow. I was only able to see the PWL by pulling on the ECT block after if failed to produce any results. The PWL showed a clean planar surface.
