Observation: Hide A Way Park

Things are looking really good for stability. The snowpack from the ground to the surface is right side up - meaning it's soft on top and progressively gets harder with deeper layers. The exception is a layer of hard snow in the middle. This harder layer was likely during the warmest period of storms with some damp snow that refroze. In other areas there is an obvious crust.

Any weaknesses in the October and early Nov snow are done. Any weaknesses in the new snow are healed as well. The main avalanche problem looking ahead will be any slabs or wind drifted snow. There is plenty of low density powder from the night of Nov 9th that winds will easily move around.

The other thing we'll be watching is what happens to the surface snow. With any prolonged periods of high pressure with sunny days and clear cold nights, the surface snow will easily facet and weaken. We'll see. Intermittent snowfall and cloudy skies can prevent that from happening.
