Quick report

Observations come from a number of October trips in the Boulders and Pioneers: Any snow that arrives with the mid-October storm will fall on generally bare ground. There are some dustings of remnant snow from September storms on shaded (due N) slopes above ~10,000', but there isn't even enough snow to cover much of the terrain roughness. Where present, the snow from September is well-adhered to the ground. I attempted to pick some snow up and a bunch of the ground came up with it (see photos below). At this point, any early-season snow issues are restricted to areas still holding snow from last season.
