Quick report

Super strong inversion ruled the day again at the Pass. Below: Cold, frosty, full cloud and windy. Above: Warm, sunny, and windy. Went looking for corn and a ramble and didn't find corn. At various times we used ski crampons, microspikes, axes, and whippets. The ski-crampons gave us the confidence to enter a brief humbling stretch of skintrack, then we got humbled anyway. After switching to boots, we gained a ridgeline to glorious views. The inverted clouds pouring through the gaps were the most fantastic we've seen. Wind was blowing hard in Rockdale again today. Temps in the mid-40s above the inversion, but stout winds (moderate, occasionally pushing strong) seemed to be keeping sunny slopes cool. Skiing was poor, careful alpine decision-making important. Snowpack: SH starting to grow in Rockdale, but nothing like the facet-factory of last year.
