Quick report
Beautiful day in the Source Lake basin. Temperatures were chilly at the car and stayed cold up high. The day was mostly cloudy with intermittent snow flurries, but whenever the sun came out the snow immediately reacted by becoming much denser and more unstable. North aspects maintained high-quality powder all day, but anything that saw the sun was heavily impacted very quickly. The April sun is a true death laser to the snow quality wherever it shines. We saw the most wet loose activity below on or below rocky cliff bands. We saw no significant signs of wind slab, although we passed some folks who mentioned wind affected snow on the Chair Peak North slopes.

Several avalanches were observed throughout the day. Whenever the sun came out on any south or east facing slope, the snow immediately reacted. Proximity to rocks was the largest indicator of where snow would start moving. We saw the two larger avalanches reported above in the early afternoon. However, there were several other smaller D0.5 wet, loose avalanche under rock bands.
