Snowpack Structure

The new snow and wind slabs are bonding poorly with the old snowpack in all aspects. The wind slabs are prone to triggering. Over a wide area they will increase in size additionally. Weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular on shady slopes.

Tendency

The wind will be moderate. Over a wide area light snowfall: High avalanche danger will still be encountered.

Avalanche Activity

As a consequence of new snow and strong wind the prevalence and size of the avalanche prone locations will increase. Danger level 4 (high) will be reached.

As a consequence of new snow and wind, large surface-area wind slabs will form. The avalanche activity will gradually increase. Large to very large natural avalanches are possible over a wide area. In the regions exposed to heavier precipitation the avalanches can in isolated cases reach very large size and in some places endanger transportation routes situated at relatively high altitudes. Without question, it is inadvisable to engage in backcountry touring.
