Confidence

High

  • We have a good understanding of the snowpack structure and confidence in the weather forecast.
  • We are confident the snowpack will rapidly weaken with the forecast weather.

Avalanche Summary

No significant new avalanches have been reported since Friday.

Expect a widespread natural avalanche cycle to continue through the forecast period.

Snowpack Summary

45 to 90 mm of precipitation is expected to fall by the end of the forecast period. Freezing levels rise between 1800 and 2400 m. Expect wet, unstable snow below these elevations.

Below 2100 m, a widespread crust is buried 20 to 60 cm deep. The snowpack below the crust is generally well settled and has no significant layers of concern.

Terrain and Travel Advice

  • Don't let storm day fever lure you into consequential terrain.
  • Keep in mind that the high density of wet avalanches can make them destructive.
  • Loose avalanches may start small, but they can grow and push you into dangerous terrain.
