The general avalanche hazard is LOW at all elevations increasing to MODERATE at upper elevations in the afternoon. Mostly stable snow exists though light new snow is increasing and drifting to lee slopes at the high ridge crests and small pockets of slab could be triggered. No significant avalanche activity has been reported in over a week. LOW avalanche danger does not mean NO avalanche danger and backcountry users should be aware of changing conditions.

Light snow will move in from the West as a storm system from the Great Basin heads toward Wyoming. 2-4" inches of snow may fall in the Tetons and Togwotee area through Tuesday with slightly greater amounts expected in the Salt and Wyoming ranges. Warmer highs are expected tomarrow to reach the upper twenties in the Southwest area, the low twenties in the Tetons and the upper teens in the Togwotee area. Winds will continue to veer to the Northwest with speeds of 20-25mph.AVALANCHE HAZARD FOR THE TETON AREAContinued forecasted snowfall is expected to result in a MODERATE avalanche danger at the mid and high elevations Tuesday where shallow but sensitive surface slabs may be triggered on steep slopes. The size and sensitivity of these new slabs will depend on actual snowfall and wind recieved. Check the morning advisory to recieve the most recent and accurate weather observations and avalanche bulletin. AVLANCHE HAZARD FOR THE TOGWOTEE PASS/CONTINENTAL DIVIDE AND GREYS RIVER/SOUTHWEST TRAILS AREASThe general avalanche hazard is expected to remain MODERATE. Sensitive new surface slabs are forming on a variety of weak layers. These generally shallow slabs could be easily triggered Tuesday and the potential to trigger larger avalanches involving deeper weak layers in the snowpack also exists. Backcountry users are advised to consult area specific forecasts issued every morning as new information may become available and unexpected weather can change conditions.
