Avalanche Summary

The avalanche danger will rise quickly on Wednesday. Warm temperatures, intense snow, and wind mean you can easily trigger avalanches in the new snow at upper elevations. Slopes where the new snow is drifted into thicker slabs will be the most dangerous. Look for and avoid steep, drifted slopes that face northwest through east to south. Lens-shaped pillows of snow below ridges and at the top of steep gullies are likely places to trigger a slide. Cracking in the storm snow and audible collapses are indications to avoid steep slopes. Look for slopes less than about 35 degrees as a safer option, and be cognizant of people above or below you.
