At the higher elevations skiers and riders could trigger small pockets of wind slab up to 18 inches in depth. Deep slab avalanches continue to be a threat for snowmobilers who climb steep avalanche prone slopes. Avalanches are unlikely below an elevation of 8,000 feet.

    Although the likelihood of triggering a deep hard slab avalanche is low, the consequences remain severe. These dangerous hard slab avalanches could be three to five feet deep and are most likely to be triggered by a snowmachine. Previous tracks may not be an indication of stability.

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Skies are forecast to be partly to mostly cloudy with scattered to isolated snow shower activity. Periods of sunshine are possible. Temperatures will remain in the teens and 20s. Winds will be west to southwest at 10 to 15 miles per hour.In the Teton Range the general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW. Avalanches are unlikely except in extreme terrain. Skiers and riders who venture into steep couloirs, cliff areas and hanging snowfields could trigger loose snow sloughs and small slab avalanches that could very quickly gain enough speed and size to hurt a person. Periods of sunshine could increase the sensitivity of these small slabs and sloughs to human triggers and cause spontaneous releases. Careful evaluations of terrain and conditions are warranted. In the Togwotee Pass and Greys River areas the general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE. Some potential remains for snowmobilers to trigger dangerous deep slab avalanches. Although the likelihood of triggering a deep slab is low, consequences are severe.
