Kernpunkte

There aren't a lot of slopes with enough snow to ride, or to avalanche.  Sustained rain throughout most of the terrain didn't help, or leave much in the way of dry snow.  If you somehow find good riding high in the mountains, it is always worth considering avalanches when you are on slopes steeper than 30 degrees.

    Wet Loose avalanches will be less likely on Wednesday as we leave the worst of the rain behind.  I almost left the problem off the list.  I have a hard time imagining those slopes that:  have enough snow to avalanche, are steep enough to avalanche, didn't avalanche in the heavy rain, and continue to hold wet slushy snow.  Still, with so much rain, and continuing warm temperatures, we shouldn't quite forget our wet avalanche problem types.

Avalanche Discussion

The atmospheric river stripped a lot of snow out of our terrain.  Hiking up Tumalo today, the ground was completely bare until 7000 ft.  Snow started to be more continuous by 7,400 ft., but at no point along the West aspect did it seem like there was enough snow for pleasant riding (as in... you could probably put on skis, make a couple turns, hit some rocks, do some kick turns, make a turn, hit more rocks... not real pleasant).  There was still several inches of snow on the summit (7775 ft.)
