Snowpack Structure

The old snowpack will be generally moist. The new snow is bonding only slowly with the old snowpack in particular on steep shady slopes above approximately 2500 m.

Tendency

The avalanche danger will decrease gradually.

Avalanche Activity

At elevated altitudes a treacherous avalanche situation will persist. As a consequence of warming a considerable danger of moist avalanches will be encountered in some regions.

At intermediate and high altitudes a considerable danger of dry and moist avalanches will persist in some regions. The new snow can be released easily or naturally in particular on steep west, north and east facing slopes above approximately 2400 m. In many cases the dry avalanches are medium-sized and can be released easily even by a single winter sport participant. As a consequence of warming during the day medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large moist and wet avalanches are possible. Backcountry touring and snowshoe hiking call for experience in the assessment of avalanche danger and a certain restraint.
