Kernpunkte

Unstable slabs one to three deep persist on steep slopes at the mid and upper elevations. Southwest winds have continued to drift available snow onto lee slopes increasing the load on these areas of instability and keeping them sensitive to human triggers. These slabs could be triggered by the weight of a single person. Warming temperatures and sunshine could increase the sensitivity of these slabs being triggered by people. Avalanches are unlikely at the lower elevations.

Avalanche Discussion

Another mild day is expected tomorrow before a series of short wave troughs move into the area ahead of a main low-pressure system approaching from the west. Clouds will increase on Wednesday with light snow expected to develop at the highest elevations by evening. Temperatures will rise into the 20s to 30s. Southwest winds at 15 to 25 will increase to 40 to 45 miles per hour by evening. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE. Dense slabs one to three feet in depth persist in some steep avalanche starting zones. These slabs have gained strength but may still have the potential to be human triggered, especially by multiple persons or snowmachines on the same slope. The potential for these slabs to fail will increase as the day warms.
