Snowpack Structure

Snowpack

A mostly continuous snow cover was found only on north-facing slopes and glaciers above approximately 3000 m. In recent weeks, the snowpack has become wet up to the highest elevations. No weak layers are currently known.

Outlook

Showers are still possible in the east on Wednesday morning. Otherwise, Wednesday and Thursday will be mostly sunny. The zero-degree level will rise to 3800 m in the west and 3000 m in the east until Thursday.

Especially on Wednesday, wet-snow avalanches are possible in high alpine terrain due to solar radiation and warming. In isolated cases, they may entrain the wet snowpack and become large.

The danger of dry avalanches is decreasing.
